Belfast Fashion Week always serves up a stylish event or two alongside the designer, boutique and high street catwalk shows. Having featured for the first time on the Autumn/Winter ’14 programme I was delighted to see Shiro was back with their Sushi Saturday event for Spring/Summer 2015.
Sushi Saturday was the perfect girly afternoon offering fashionistas the chance to get up close and personal with the beautifully styled outfits whilst dining over a delicious 3 course lunch. Shiro gave us their refreshing twist on the sponsors’ West Coast Cooler, adding lemon sorbet and a spritz of rose water to create The West Coast Blush. The models strutted their stuff to DJ Jay Kay’s background beats intermittently between courses of soup, sushi and hot food platters. Even the drinks came “accessorised”.
The fashion was primarily from Excel clothing with a snippet of the “Director’s Cut” after our petit cupcakes of coconut & lime and rasberry & white chocolate. Perhaps it was the sugar fix but most of my favourite looks of the day featured in this round which showcased local designers, boutiques and the highstreet.
Clockwise from top left: Jayne-floral print blouse & yellow skirt from Spoilt Belle Boutique; Rebecca-Nor Lisa Fashion; Maeve-Ice-lolly shirt, pink pencil skirt from Spoilt Belle Boutique; Caerys-Michael Kors Paisley shift dress; Nuala-Blouse, feather tippet & jewellery from Jordan; Ashleigh-Kimono from Sara O’Neill’s Éadach collection.
It was great to be able to see the detail and texture of the apparel and even have a chat to the models as they sashsayed amongst the tables. There were a few scribbles being marked on the running order as we picked out possible updates for our spring/summer wardrobe. Included in the ticket price was a fabulous goody bag of healthy drinks and snacks, vouchers and even a little something for the men in our lives. And to top off an already wonderful event I won the Best Dressed prize of a deluxe facial and travel goodies at the Galgorm Spa for my ballet-trend inspired outfit.

A superb way to spend a Saturday afternoon and all in the great company of my dear friends.
For me the day didn’t end there, a quick “costume” change and I was off with my sister and friends to the Belfast Fashion Week headquarters to see the latest trends that are hitting the high street this season. Take a look at their facebook page for all the latest trends to wear this season.
